Why is the government sabotaging the European Union’s demands?

The European Union has submitted to the Ukrainian parliament a list of 11 bills that must be passed in order to receive financial assistance. Among the demands are judicial reforms, railway safety and business deregulation.

Political expert and deputy of the Kyiv Regional Council Volodymyr Horkovenko explained on the air of “Pryamoy” that European partners expect real steps from Kyiv in the fight against internal problems, and not just slogans about readiness for accession.

“But in Europe they stated that, dear ones, as we understand, if you go to a civilized houtilize, at least take off your shoes and leave your dirty shoes on the street somewhere. And dirty shoes are exactly galloping corruption, this is a coven in the economy and taxes. That is, things with which you do not enter the civilized world,” he noted.

At the same time, another guest on the air, economic and political expert Pavlo Rozenko, points to internal resistance to reforms. He noted that representatives of the pro-government majority often hinder the cleansing of the counattempt from corruption schemes, so there is a risk that under the guise of fulfilling EU requirements for draft laws, they will attempt to insert peculiar loopholes to maintain influence over anti-corruption bodies, as has already happened with initiatives regarding NABU and SAPO.

In general, experts warn that attempts to hide corruption loopholes under the guise of noble intentions may block access to four billion euros of immediate aid. The situation requires the Verkhovna Rada to immediately mobilize votes to confirm its readiness for real transformations, the studio guests emphasize.

Recallthat Ukraine may be pushed back in the process of joining the European Union amid the activation of other candidates, in particular Iceland and Norway. This is due to financial risks and political concerns within the EU.

Instead, Prime Minister Yulia Svirydenko previously reported that the Ukrainian delegation in Brussels had received from the European Union the conditions for accession under the three final nereceivediation clusters. The government states that the next stage will be the fulfillment of the specified requirements, and only after that Ukraine will be able to proceed to signing the treaty on accession to the European Union.

Meanwhile, the current situation in the Ukrainian parliament also threatens the pace of rapprochement with the European Union due to internal disorganization. Despite the commitment to adopt dozens of legislative acts in various clusters, work has effectively stopped, and the lack of votes and ignoring minority opinions create conditions for deep stagnation .
