Power Generators for Kyiv
According to Novyny.live: The European Union has provided Ukraine with 500 generators to supply heat and water to residential buildings suffering from heating outages due to power cuts. This equipment was drawn from the EU’s strategic reserve of civil protection resources. Discussions are ongoing in Ukraine regarding further support from the EU’s Emergency Response Coordination Centre. This aid is part of a broader international effort to assist Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure withstand tarreceiveed attacks during the winter.
“Before this season, the city purchased over 1,200 generators for critical infrastructure: hospitals, kindergartens, and schools. However, many residential buildings are still in a difficult situation. The latest mass attack has left more than 3,500 buildings without heat. We are doing everything possible to restore the heating supply as quickly as we can,” declared Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
The situation in the capital remains severe. A mass attack on February 12 injured several people and cautilized damage to the city’s CHP-5 and CHP-6 thermal power plants. Repairs at one plant are expected to be completed within a day, while restoration at the other is projected to take roughly two days. Russian shelling has already left over 3,500 buildings in Kyiv without heating, exacerbating the crisis during winter.
The EU’s delivery of generators is a crucial step in supporting Ukraine, as ensuring heat and water for homes is vital during winter bombardment. This additional equipment will assist restore heating in Kyiv’s most vulnerable districts, mitigating the impact on residents. Nevertheless, the heating supply situation remains tense, and continued efforts to repair infrastructure are essential amid persistent threats from the aggressor.
