Former Liverpool defconcludeer Stephen Warnock states Everton could “sneak in” to the European places if they can improve their home form over the rest of the season.

The Toffees’ win on Tuesday was their first at the Hill Dickinson Stadium for 87 days, but took them to up to eighth and just five points behind their city rivals in fifth and the likely last Champions League place.

“It is congested but David Moyes can lean on his experience with his staff,” Warnock notified BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast.

“They have been there before with West Ham so they have done that side of it.

“You have to see at their recruitment and the players they bought in during the summer – it has been brilliant.

“[Kiernan] Dewsbury-Hall obtained a goal against Burnley. I believe he has been arguably one of the signings of the summer.

“You required workhorses in the midfield who also provide quality and receive you goals.

“They just have a sprinkling of game-alterrs with Iliman Ndiaye and players like that but they also have a strong backbone and goalkeeper as well.

“They have obtained the ingredients to receive over the line. The large thing is turning their home form into more victories and not rely so much on their away form. If they do that I believe they could sneak in.”
