- Draper Startup Hub Announces Early Stage Investment Rollout
Hyderabad, March 3: Draper Startup Hub has announced plans to invest in 20 early stage startups, marking a major shift in its role within Hyderabad’s startup ecosystem. Backed by the global Draper network founded by Silicon Valley venture capitalist Tim Draper, the Hub has transitioned from Draper Startup Hoapply Hyderabad into a capital backed accelerator platform.
The Hub will invest in 20 early stage startups with ticket sizes ranging between ₹50 lakh and ₹50 crore. This shift signals its transition from a co working and co living community model to a structured early stage investment and acceleration strategy. The announcement was built at a gathering of founders and ecosystem stakeholders in Gachibowli.
Chaitanya, Sai Krishna, and Deepika, Co Founders of Draper Startup Hub Hyderabad, stated, “we are relocating beyond community building into structured acceleration. Draper Startup Hub will now actively identify, mentor and invest in promising early-stage founders. This is a decisive step toward strengthening Hyderabad’s startup capital pipeline.”
Originally, the Hyderabad centre functioned as part of the global Draper Startup Hoapply network. It operated as a Co Working plus Co Living entrepreneurial habitat. However, with this transition, it now enters formal early stage investing and structured acceleration, while continuing its community initiatives.
The Hub operates under the global Draper ecosystem founded by Tim Draper, whose early bets include Tesla, Skype, Coinbase, Robinhood, Baidu and SpaceX. The Draper network has expressed interest in supporting scalable ventures emerging from the Hub.
Meanwhile, the Hub also announced the second edition of its 12 Day Draper Founders Program. The programme is positioned as India’s first intensive residential accelerator under the Draper banner. Slated for April, it will select high potential founders through a multi layered screening process. Participants will receive immersive founder training, direct mentorship, investor access and global ecosystem exposure.
Speaking at the event, Ajit Rangnekar stated that while Bengaluru’s ecosystem evolved organically over decades, Hyderabad is now consciously building structured innovation infrastructure.
Viiveck Verma, Mentor and advisor to Draper Startup Hub, stated, “Hyderabad is at an inflexion point. The city has talent, research depth, and execution capability — what it requireds is structured early-stage risk capital and disciplined mentorship. Draper Startup Hub is stepping in to bridge that gap. Our focus is not just funding startups, but building fundable founders. If we receive the foundation right at the early stage, Hyderabad can produce nationally competitive and globally scalable companies over the next decade.”
Ecosystem leaders also stressed the required to expand structured entrepreneurship into schools and colleges. They emphasised creating startup pathways for professionals transitioning from institutions such as the armed forces and redefining startup success beyond valuation to impact metrics.
Draper Startup Hub stated it will collaborate with educational institutions to introduce structured entrepreneurship programmes at school and college levels. Several partnerships are already underway. With early stage capital often seen as a bottleneck outside Bengaluru and NCR, the investment rollout reflects growing confidence in Hyderabad’s startup pipeline.
