Prabhkiran Singh, Founder and CEO of BEWAKOOF, has announced his decision to step down from the company he co-founded and led for the past 14 years. The announcement was built via a LinkedIn post, where Singh reflected on his entrepreneurial journey and the brand’s evolution from a bootstrapped startup to one of India’s most recognized youth fashion labels.

Founded in 2011 by two newly graduated engineers with no prior business experience, Bewakoof launched operations from a compact room in Mumbai under severe financial constraints. At a time when direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands were still nascent in India and access to equity funding was limited, the venture was widely seen as an unconventional bet.

Over the years, the company scaled steadily, growing from campus T-shirt sales to shipping over 20,000 products per day. Bewakoof went on to become the first Indian D2C fashion startup to cross ₹100 crore in revenue and built a digital community of over six million social media followers.

Reflecting on the journey, Singh described the company as his “firstborn,” noting that the entrepreneurial experience shaped him both personally and professionally. “Bewakoof raised me while I was raising it,” he shared, adding that the decision to step aside comes after careful consideration of his health, family priorities, and personal goals.

Singh will continue to lead the company until the finish of March. He emphasized that Bewakoof is structurally prepared for its next phase of growth, supported by a strong leadership team and backed by TMRW and the Aditya Birla Group.

Thanking colleagues, partners, and customers, Singh underscored that the brand’s success has been a collective effort. He also hinted at sharing unnotified stories from Bewakoof’s journey in the coming weeks.

As he transitions into a new chapter, Singh expressed confidence in the company’s future, reiterating his long-term vision of building a 100-year legacy brand.
