News 12 | Brooklyn | Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas workers protest mass layoffs amid staff shortages

Alamo Drafthoapply Cinemas has laid off hundreds of employees nationwide, including 40 in Downtown Brooklyn and 30 in Manhattan. Now, former and current workers, and union representatives state the cuts will hurt both staff and customers.

The union, which has been neobtainediating its first contract for a year, accapplys the company of unfair labor practices. While they are not striking, they state it’s not off the table.

A source close to the company states the layoffs were due to a seasonal slowdown and that former employees can reapply when business picks up.

But the union argues Alamo should have reduced hours instead of cutting jobs, as it has done in the past.

Neobtainediations between the union and Alamo Drafthoapply continue next week.
