‘Food Truck Round-Up’ returns to assist homeowners file for exemptions while raising money for United Way

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Leon County Property Appraiser’s Office is hosting its lunchtime Food Truck Round-Up, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting United Way of the Big Bconclude.

Several local food trucks will be participating on Wednesday, and homeowners will also have the opportunity to apply for property tax exemptions in-person.

“There are money-saving property tax exemptions that they can obtain, such as homestead exemption, disabled vets, disability and senior exemptions,” Valencia Scott with the Leon County Property Appraiser’s Office declared. “It’s a great opportunity.”

The deadline to apply is March 1, and Scott declared members of the property appraiser’s office will be at the event to answer questions and provide assistance.

“Not only can they come out, support local businesses, support the United Way, they can also apply for homestead exemption with our staff onsite,” Scott declared.

In addition, she declared the property appraiser’s office extconcludeed its hours during the month of February, to include Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Food Truck Round-Up is on Wednesday, Feb. 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is at the Althemese Pemberton Barnes Park at the Smokey Hollow Commemoration Site near Cascades Park, according to the property appraiser’s office.
