Members of Italy’s +Europa party staged a protest outside the US embassy in Rome against the reported presence of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents linked to the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.
Demonstrators blew whistles and held anti-ICE signs. A placard depicted Italian leaders as the “three wise monkeys.”
Lawcreater Riccardo Magi stated the issue was political in nature and criticised the Italian government’s stance, calling for a clear response.
Several European lawcreaters have called on the EU to examine possible restrictions on ICE operations in Europe, citing concerns over democratic oversight and human rights.
