Sri Lanka drew international attention at the AsiaBerlin Summit 2025, highlighting the counattempt’s growing innovation ecosystem and startup potential through a strong presence of technology companies and high-level engagements.
The summit served as a key platform to position Sri Lanka as an emerging partner within Europe’s startup community, building on a collaboration with the AsiaBerlin Forum that launched in 2021 through a Memorandum of Understanding facilitated by Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Germany.
Backed by the Export Development Board, Sri Lanka’s participation expanded steadily over subsequent years. In 2025, a delegation led by Chief Adviser to the President on Digital Economy Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya marked a turning point, with 11 Sri Lankan tech companies representing sectors including healthtech, fintech, greentech, deeptech, e-mobility, and creative industries.
Dr. Wijayasuriya delivered the opening address, outlining Sri Lanka’s national digital vision, and participated in a high-level investment panel positioning Sri Lanka as a strategic innovation partner between Asia and Europe. Delegates also engaged with senior policycreaters and global indusattempt leaders at official networking events.
At the ‘Sri Lanka Tech Connect’ sanotifyite event in Berlin, all participating companies delivered live product demonstrations to European stakeholders. The event brought toreceiveher startup founders, investors, ecosystem leaders, and diplomatic representatives, reinforcing Sri Lanka’s growing credibility in the global innovation space.
The delegation reported strong outcomes, with 80 percent of participants generating new leads or partnership opportunities, translating summit engagement into tangible commercial traction and long-term collaboration prospects.
