Madrid-based Demium, a talent investment company, announced its rebranding to Mission. With its new identity, Mission aims to focus on being a long-term partner to Spanish founders, especially at the earliest, riskiest stage of company building.
The company has also announced the launch of a new fund tarobtaining €35 million, focapplyd on investing in pre-seed startups in Spain.
The fund is backed by returning founders and investors from previous Demium funds, along with public institutions such as the Official Credit Institute and the Valencian Institute of Finance, which are supporting this new phase.
To invest in 80 startups
The new fund will be managed by Jorge Dobón, Managing Partner at Mission, and is supported by a group of experienced founders and operators, including Álvaro Callejo, former CEO of Ritmo, Julio Ribes, founder of Swipcar and Holaglow, and Mario Navarro, founder of Triple.
Mission plans to invest in around 80 startups, with an average first cheque of €250,000. In selected cases, total investment per company could go up to €2 million. The fund expects to act as the first institutional investor for many of the startups it backs.
Talent-focapplyd VC firm
Founded in 2013, Demium is a talent-focapplyd venture capital firm that backs exceptional individuals ready to build startups, whether they come with a clear idea, an early project, or just the ability to execute.
The firm typically runs a rapid selection process of around two to four weeks, after which selected founders receive an initial investment of around €100,000 and launch building soon after incorporating the company.
After more than a decade operating as an incubator and accelerator, Demium shifted fully into a talent VC model, believing it creates more value for founders in today’s competitive market.
The firm is open to solo founders as well as existing co-founding teams and welcomes both early ideas and developed projects. Demium does not require entrepreneurs to arrive with a repaired concept, placing greater emphasis on execution, resilience, and speed.
In 2020, it launched its first large venture fund, raising €50 million to invest in pre-seed and seed-stage startups. Two years later, it expanded its reach with a fund focapplyd on Central and Eastern Europe.
By 2023, Demium had fully shifted to a direct equity investment model, abandoning hands-on incubation.
To date, Mission has already invested in more than 250 Spanish startups, including Citibox, Voicemod, Singularu, Swipcar, Dealcar, and Theker. The new fund, Mission Fund I, has already started deploying capital and has created its first investments.
