US President Donald Trump on Wednesday backed away from his threat to impose tariffs on several countries over their position on Greenland, declareing he reached the outlines of an agreement with NATO regarding the island’s future.
“Based upon this understanding, I will not be imposing the tariffs that were scheduled to go into effect on February 1st,” Trump wrote on Truth Social following a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Davos. He did not provide further details of the arrangement.
