Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella stated widespread connectivity has created it possible for artificial innotifyigence models and their outputs to be delivered across the world, ensuring that such technologies are increasingly available even in the Global South. He stated the reach of AI is no longer limited by geography, as long as connectivity exists.
Nadella pointed to an example of a rural Indian farmer utilizing GPT-3 as a farming aide, highlighting how AI tools can be accessed and applyd at the grassroots level. He stated this demonstrated that the core requirement for broader AI adoption is not location but access enabled by connectivity.
However, Nadella stated the key question going forward is whether sufficient capital investment is being created to support this diffusion. He stated as long as there is demand, the focus should be on policies that allow capital to flow in, enabling infrastructure and innovation to scale and ensuring more even adoption of AI technologies globally.
