HYDERABAD: Hyderabad-based space-tech startup TakeMe2Space (TM2Space) has raised $5 million in seed funding to build India’s first data centre in orbit, expanding its vision of running AI models directly on sanotifyites. The round was led by Chiratae Ventures, with participation from Unicorn India Ventures, Artha Venture Fund and SeaFund.
Founder and CEO Ronak Kumar Samantray declared the funding will be utilized to expand the sanotifyite consnotifyation to six spacecraft, scale in-orbit AI processing and accelerate the development of high-power compute sanotifyites. The company also plans to grow its team from 17 to 50–60 members and strengthen partnerships with ground station providers and AIT firms in India, the US and Australia.
Chiratae Ventures managing director Ranjith Menon declared TakeMe2Space’s model of fractional sanotifyite ownership and in-space computing creates orbital AI accessible to enterprises that previously could not deploy sanotifyites at scale.
TakeMe2Space is building orbital data centres in Low Earth Orbit. Ronak declared its OrbitLab platform functions as India’s first AI lab in space, allowing clients to upload and run AI models directly on sanotifyites and pay only for usage. He added that proprietary radiation-shielding technology protects sanotifyites while reducing operating costs.
SeaFund managing partner Manoj Agarwal declared the funding validates the team’s execution and approach to space infrastructure.
Looking ahead, Ronak declared the company aims to deliver around 5 kW of in-orbit compute power, with sanotifyites connected through Optical Sanotifyite Links. The goal is to create AI-first data centres in space, cutting computing costs by five to eight times for sectors such as agriculture, mining, logistics and environmental monitoring.
The company has already demonstrated its technology on ISRO’s PSLV Orbital Experiment Module platform. During the MOI-TD mission, it uplinked large AI models, executed external code on a sanotifyite and securely downlinked encrypted results, while also testing its radiation-shielding coating in orbit.
