Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni called the new national security strategy of U.S. President Donald Trump a wake-up call for Europe.
According to her, the strategy underscores a shift in Washington’s approach to Europe, particularly regarding support for Ukraine and the continent’s role in the future security architecture. She also emphasized the coalition’s unity on these issues.

Position on Europe and Ukraine
According to the prime minister, the U.S. strategy signals its intention to sfinish a message to Europe that its role may require reevaluation. At the same time, Italy insists on close cooperation with partners on security and aid to Ukraine.
“We want to have Italy that is loyal to its partners, but not subordinate to anyone,” the prime minister stated.
In the context of European stability and support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, the parties stressed the importance of joint actions within European policy.
