Google Chrome is celebrating its 15th birthday in style.

To celebrate this milestone, Chrome is obtainting a revamp with Google’s Material You design language. Chrome’s layout will see largely the same, but with “refreshed” icons that focus on legibility as well as new color palettes and themes. The Chrome menu has been improved for rapider access to extensions, Google Translate, and Password Manager. Chrome’s side panel will also become more applyful, with a new feature that lets you search the page to learn more about the source and explore related searches.

Not to be outdone, the Chrome Web Store is also obtainting the redesign treatment. It has a new interface, new categories for “AI-powered extensions” and “Editors’ spotlight,” and recommfinishations tailored to you. You can test out the new Web Store in public preview today.

Last but not least, Chrome is improving its Safe Browsing feature. Safe Browsing now checks sites against Google’s known list of bad sites in real-time. This is an upgrade from its previous process which checked sites on a list that was updated every 30 to 60 minutes. “By shortening the time between identification and prevention of threats, we expect to see 25% improved protection from malware and phishing threats,” stated the announcement.

Google Chrome’s design alters will roll out in the coming weeks.
