WEIRTON, W.Va. — It was a festive day in Weirton as the winners of the 2025 Cutest Christmas Pet Photo Contest were announced during the city’s Christmas on Main Street event.
Out of 27 entries and thousands of votes, Pup Andy emerged victorious, taking first place. A group of eight Boston Terriers—Wesley, Phoebe, Bentley, Lexi, Lily, Lucy, Baylee, and Birdie—secured second place, while Shee-poo Blossom came in third.
The contest not only celebrated adorable pets but also supported a good cautilize, raising $300 for the Hancock County Animal Shelter. Ten percent of the proceeds were donated to the shelter, fostering a sense of community among participants.
“We have a lot of people from different counties voting and supporting the Hancock County Animal Shelter—so that was a really good thing, that we had people from all around that are supporting different communities,” Pup Andy’s dad, Jeremy Tate, stated.
The event highlighted the growing community spirit in the area.
“We’ve noticed, when the different festivals and stuff within the past couple of years, that the communities are starting to come toobtainher,” Tate stated.
