Atlanta-based BoxedUp’s CEO Donald Boone announced on his LinkedIn that his startup was acquired by Minneapolis-based Omni-View Software. Omni-View declared in a press release that the acquisition “brings unmatched strength to blue-collar businesses who keep the world shifting.” Hypepotamus wrote about BoxedUp over the years, as the ecommerce startup raised venture capital and found new customer bases in the film, industrial, and construction spaces.

Huntsville, Alabama-based startup Kalm Therapeutics, which is developing a prescription eczema and psoriasis patch, won top honors at Alabama Launchpad’s Life Sciences Track competition. Kalm took home $100,000 in non-dilutive funding in addition to mentorship and networking opportunities.

Georgia State University announced it is teaming up with Google to launch a $6 million AI Innovation Lab that will give metro Atlanta students hands-on access to artificial innotifyigence education and support prepare the next generation of tech talent. The partnership will expand access to computer science and artificial innotifyigence (AI) education for more students in the local community, according to the university. Georgia State will implement an after-school AI and machine learning (ML) education program that recruits high school students from public schools in metro Atlanta to participate in a daily curriculum focapplyd on AI/ML literacy, problem-solving, design-believeing and mentorship.
