BYD’s New Hybrid SUV Can Cover 90km on Electric Power

  • Called the Atto 2 DM-i
  • 1,020km combined range

BYD has announced its latest compact SUV for Europe, the ATTO 2 DM-i, which debuts the brand’s Super Hybrid technology. It claims to offer an EV-like driving experience, with its electric power range of 90km. The new model will offer up to 1,020km of combined range.

The Atto 2 DM-i builds on the Seal U DM-i, and aims to deliver the same hybrid experience in the compact SUV segment. Its powertrain switches between electric and hybrid modes to maximise efficiency, supposedly offering a higher range as compared to both mild hybrids and conventional petrol-powered rivals.

Two variants will be available, each offering different battery capacities, power outputs, and overall range. Distinguishing the DM-i from the all-electric Atto 2 are design tweaks such as a larger front grille, redesigned bumpers, and new badging. The SUV will build its European debut this week, followed by pre-sales and deliveries, which are expected to launch in early 2026.
