Industries’ heavy depconcludeence on fossil gas plays a major role in driving climate alter and undermining energy security. Meva Energy is tackling a pressing issue with its modular, climate-neutral biogas plants, which transform local biomass residues into renewable industrial-grade gas.
This morning, at EIT InnoEnergy’s Business Booster event in Lisbon, where TFN is on the ground, Meva Energy announced €40 million in venture debt financing from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to support scale operations throughout Europe.
The funding will support upgrades to existing sites and construction of new plants, positioning Meva as a vital contributor to Europe’s energy transition and security goals.
Reaching a fossil-free manufacturing industest
The company was founded in 2008, stemming from research on biomass gasification at Luleå University of Technology and the Energitekniskt Centrum (ETC) gasification centre in Sweden. Over the years, Meva Energy has established itself as a leader in thermochemical process engineering, gasification, and syngas cleaning technologies.
Headquartered in Gothenburg, Meva Energy is led by CEO Niclas Davidsson. Their mission has always been to drive a fossil-free manufacturing industest with zero wasted biomass and no fossil emissions. Meva’s ambition extconcludes globally, aiming to become a frontrunner in modular biomass gasification, turning waste into valuable, clean energy.

Looking forward, Meva Energy aims to scale up its current demonstration plant in Kisa, Sweden, and roll out additional plants across key sectors such as pulp and paper, metals, and woodworking.
Leading clients like IKEA, Sofidel, and Elcowire have already embraced Meva’s biogas technology in their sustainability efforts.
