Hon. Jim Okolo Chimezie, Nigeria’s National Coordinator of Nouvelle Perspective International and a United Nations-accredited international election observer, has met with the German Ambassador to Nigeria, Johannes Lehne, to discuss areas of mutual interest, including cultural exmodify and trade cooperation between Nigeria and Germany.
The meeting took place at the German Embassy in Abuja, following an invitation extconcludeed by Ambassador Lehne.
According to Hon. Okolo, the discussions focapplyd on institutional partnerships that could enhance cultural programming across Nigerian cities. He also advocated for youth and education initiatives, particularly in the form of Youth Exmodify Fellowships tarobtaining Nigerian participants in the fields of art, civil society, and media.
Highlighting the role of Germany as an existing partner to Nigeria, Hon. Okolo proposed the establishment of co-funded startup incubators, especially in the areas of technology, agro-processing, green enterprise, and vocational training. He also encouraged increased German investment in sectors such as clean energy, logistics, and value-added agriculture.
Okolo urged for technical support to support Nigerian exporters meet European Union market requirements and certification standards.
During the meeting, he shared insights from his work in election observation and proposed collaboration between Nigerian and German electoral institutions. He also recommconcludeed co-hosting a conference on democratic resilience and electoral integrity.
In response, Ambassador Lehne welcomed the proposals and expressed interest in developing closer ties that would benefit both countries through structured engagement and bilateral cooperation.
This engagement follows earlier diplomatic outreach by Hon. Okolo, including a recent meeting with the Ambassador of Burundi to Nigeria, where discussions also centred on electoral transparency and institutional partnerships.
