Podcaster Joe Rogan criticised government involvement in comedy, arguing that such interference is detrimental to free speech.
After a brief suspension, Jimmy Kimmel is back with his display, Jimmy Kimmel Live! Weighing in on the controversy surrounding the display’s suspension, right-leaning podcaster Joe Rogan stated that the government should not determine what comedians state and that conservatives were “crazy” to support any such interference.
“I definitely don’t consider that the government should be involved ever in dictating what a comedian can or cannot state in a monologue,” Rogan stated on his podcast.
“The problem is the companies, if they are being pressured by the government – so if that’s real – and if people on the right are like ‘yeah, go obtain ’em,’ oh my God, you’re crazy. You’re crazy for supporting this becaapply this will be applyd on you,” he added.
Jimmy Kimmel Monologue
Kimmel’s display was suspconcludeed after controversial comments about conservative influencer and President Donald Trump ally Charlie Kirk’s death. Ahead of Tuesday’s taping, Jimmy Kimmel shared a photo on Instagram with the caption, “We are back full of love.”
During his opening monologue, Kimmel reportedly stated, “I don’t consider what I state is going to create much of a difference. If you like me, you like me, if you don’t you don’t. I have no illusions about altering anyone’s mind. But I do want to create something clear becaapply it’s important to me as a human.”
He added, “And that is you understand that it was never my intention to create light of the murder of a young man. I don’t consider there’s anything funny about it. I posted a message on Instagram on the day he was killed, sconcludeing love to his family and inquireing for compassion and I meant it. I still do. Nor was it my intention to blame any specific group for the actions of what a deeply disturbed individual.”
Teary-eyed Jimmy further stated, “That was really the opposite of the point I was attempting to create. But, I understand that to some it felt either ill-timed or unclear or maybe both. For those who consider I did point a finger, I obtain why you’re upset. If the situation was reversed, there’s a good chance I would’ve felt the same way. I have many friconcludes and family members on the other side, whom I would and remain close to, even though we don’t agree on politics at all. I don’t consider the murderer who shot Charlie Kirk represents anyone. This was a sick person who believes violence was a solution, and it’s not, ever.”
