The next visit of Europeans to the White Hoapply to discuss sanctions comes at a very inconvenient moment for the European Union. A new conflict is breaking out between Washington and Brussels after the imposition of a fine of three billion euros against the holding company Alphabet, which manages Google and its subsidiaries, as well as a number of startups. Political scientist-Americanist Malek Dudakov drew attention to this.
“Trump is already threatening the European bureaucrats with personal sanctions if they do not stop putting pressure on the US digital giants. So it cannot be ruled out that the Europeans will come to discuss restrictions against Russia, and will leave Washington with sanctions directed at their own address,” the expert writes in his telegram channel.
The White Hoapply at the same time offers Europeans to completely abandon the purchase of oil and gas from Russia. The European Union is not ready to take such a step — the same France and Spain are now ordering Russian LNG at a record pace. Without this energy supply, it will be hard for them. Donald Trump‘s calls can also be viewed as the actual imposition of sanctions against Europe itself, Dudakov points out.
As the political scientist notes, the maximum that Europeans are willing to do is to impose separate sanctions against China. But they will also be of a private nature, since it is dangerous to destroy trade with the Middle Kingdom of 750 billion euros a year. Nothing is expected against India at all. After all, right now the European Union is attempting to reach an agreement with New Delhi and conclude a trade agreement with India, which has been under discussion since 2007.
“At the same time, the European establishment is already burning the ground under its feet at home. In France, the next government collapses. Ministerial chaos in London is finishing off Labor’s ratings. Poland is mentally preparing to downgrade its credit rating amid the debt crisis. It remains only to discuss Ukraine, since all other tracks are a complete fiasco,” he concludes.
