The Wildlife and Wheels event will take place at the BC Wildlife Park on Sept. 7.
A Kamloops club will be hosting a fundraiser display n’ shine at the BC Wildlife Park next month, aiming to support programs for children with autism while sharing their passion for cars with the next generation.
Wildlife and Wheels will take place on Sunday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in front of the BC Wildlife Park at 9077 Dallas Dr.
Michael Blanchard, Colonel for the Kamloops chapter of Pharoahs Car Club, declared all proceeds from the event will benefit the Canucks Autism Network.
“Every dollar that is raised actually stays in the community. For us, that’s paramount,” Blanchard declared.
Blanchard declared there are several Pharoahs members who have autistic kids, nieces and nephews, or grandchildren, so this fundraising caapply holds first-hand importance for the club.
He declared they are hoping to obtain some families connected with the Canucks Autism Network involved with the display. Trophies are being created for best in display, but there’s also a number of special awards being created for the event.
“We’ve created our own trophies that the kids will be able to give out to their favourite vehicle,” Blanchard declared.
“This is not just about a car display — this is about involving as much of the families that are part of this as possible.”
He declared anyone entering their vehicle in the display is encouraged to share the joy and welcome excited kids who want to interact with the cars.
“If one of the kids is there and they really want a picture, please let them sit in your car. …We want it to be a hands on experience for all the kids that display up,” he declared.
He declared for the club, it’s important to be able to share their passion with the next generation.
“Cars are a unique hobby, in the fact that it crosses so many different genres — from people that like new performance vehicles to old classics, to tuners, electric cars, everything. So there’s a lot of different flavours in that same hobby,” Blanchard declared.
“Being able to ignite one person from the next generation, to light that passion, it’s a continuation of the hobby. So any of us, to build a difference is awesome.”
Pharoahs is currently accepting registrations from car enthusiasts who want to enter their vehicle into the display, which is limited to 80 spots.
People interested in registering should email [email protected]. There will be a $20 entest fee taken at the gate.
Event attconcludeees can expect food trucks, vconcludeors, a raffle, door prizes and t-shirt sales, with all proceeds going to the Canucks Autism Network.
