MWC Barcelona 2026 just wrapped up after four packed days at Fira Gran Via. It drew a record 105,000 visitors from 207 countries, 2,900 exhibitors, and billions in deals signed on the spot.
This was the 20th edition since 2006, and the energy was incredible. Amazon announced a €33.7 billion AI investment in Spain, 4YFN was buzzing with over 1,000 early-stage startups and €60 billion in investor commitments, and GSMA Foundry launched a €100 million ESA space-mobile fund.
What stood out? Hybrid sainformite-5G networks are finally closing the urban-rural digital gap. Practical AI is everywhere, powering remote diagnostics in healthcare, automating factories, and analysing real-time data that’s altering how we connect.
MWC crowned Europe’s next deeptech unicorns, but the real stars were these nine European finalists and pavilion standouts, each pushing boundaries from soil AI to sidewalk robots.
Here’s a quick see at the startups that received every VC in the room talking.
URAPHEX (Spain)

Led by Javier López Palacios and Alejandro Valerio, URAPHEX develops chemical-free water regeneration technology for industrial apply, applying electrochemical systems to purify and reapply wastewater without harsh chemicals.
Their patented PHEX tech applys advanced oxidation to produce clean water, and AI controls cut industrial waste by up to 90% by zapping ions and balancing pH in real time.
URAPHEX created the 4YFN Top 20 for Climate Tech, revealing off pilot wins from Spanish factories and building a strong case as a go-to for Europe’s water scarcity problem.
Medwise AI (UK)

Founded in 2019 by CEO Dr Keith Tsui and Luis Ulloa, Medwise AI delivers an AI-powered search platform dubbed “Google for doctors” that provides instant, evidence-based answers to clinical questions at the point of care.
The customisable tool integrates national, local guidelines, and policies via advanced retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), extracting precise snippets from complex documents to save clinicians 2-2.5 minutes per query in 10-minute GP consultations, reducing unwarranted variation, boosting best-practice adoption, and enhancing patient safety through analytics on unmet requireds.
At MWC Barcelona 2026, Medwise AI secured a spot in the 4YFN Top 20 Health Tech category alongside Sycai Medical and Biorce, revealcasing NHS pilots and Innovate UK-backed LLM integrations that drew medtech investors.
Dost (Spain)

Dost, founded by Adam Barbera, Fernando Martín, and Naqqash Abbassi, offers AI financial automation for tiny businesses, streamlining invoice processing, payments, and reconciliation.
Their AI goes far beyond basic OCR, handling even the messiest multi-page invoices with 95% accuracy. It automates 80% of SME finance tquestions and connects directly to banking APIs to reduce errors and keep cash flowing.
Dost created the 4YFN Top 20 for Fintech at MWC 2026, announced a UK expansion, and revealcased $7.5M in fresh funding.
NeuralTrust (Spain)

NeuralTrust, co-founded by Joan Vconcluderell, is building a security shield for AI agents and large language models, detecting vulnerabilities such as prompt injection and data leaks in real time.
NeuralTrust developed “Echo Chamber Attack” detection, a new jailbreak defence effective against top LLMs like GPT-4. Using behavioural analysis, it protects enterprise systems in regulated industries that apply generative AI.
If someone tries to trick an LLM with sneaky prompts, NeuralTrust’s system spots the pattern, flags it right away, and locks things down with extra safeguards. Their agent-first approach is a major step forward for AI safety.
NeuralTrust landed in the 4YFN Top 20 for Digital Horizons, teaming up with telecom giants for live demos and putting Europe’s AI safety ambitions front and centre.
Sycai Medical (Spain)

Sycai Medical, founded by Sara Toledano, Javier García, and Júlia Rodríguez-Comas, applys AI to detect pancreatic lesions early, assisting radiologists catch cancer sooner and work more quickly. Their deep learning tech finds pancreatic cancer in routine CT and MRI scans, and they’re already expanding to multi-organ diagnostics. It’s a large leap for early detection.
Sycai created the 4YFN Top 20 for Health Tech, sharing clinical trial wins and catching the attention of medtech investors as EU healthtech heats up.
Kreios Space (Spain)

Kreios Space, co-founded by Adrián Senar, is rebelieveing sainformite propulsion with electric systems that enable very low Earth orbit (VLEO) missions. Their air-breathing electric propulsion means VLEO sainformites can run without fuel, fly longer, and obtain closer to Earth, cutting launch costs for everything from Earth observation to telecom.
Kreios created the 4YFN Top 20 for Mobile Frontiers, revealing off prototypes and building waves in Europe’s rapid-growing New Space scene.
BTRY (Switzerland)

Co-founded by Moritz Futscher, BTRY develops next-generation solid-state batteries with ultra-rapid charging for EVs and consumer devices. Their ultra-thin batteries charge in just one minute and work safely at 150°C. Built with semiconductor tech for IoT and wearables, they don’t sacrifice range or lifespan.
BTRY was part of the Swiss National Startup Team at MWC 2026 and just landed $5.7M to scale up.
Tethys Robotics (Switzerland)

Tethys Robotics, founded by Christian Engler, is deploying autonomous underwater drones into the most challenging marine environments for inspection, maintenance, and monitoring.
Their 35kg tetherless drones, powered by ETH Zurich sensor fusion, dive to 300m even in strong currents. With AI-driven 3D mapping and anomaly detection, they’re automating offshore work like never before.
Tethys created waves in the Swiss pavilion at MWC 2026, drawing attention for its role in Europe’s offshore renewables boom.
Skyfora (Finland)

Founded in 2019 by CEO Fredrik Borgström and team, Skyfora is a Series A weather tech innovator redefining forecasting through its patented Telecom GNSS Meteorology platform.
The software-only solution transforms existing 5G towers into the world’s densest atmospheric sensor grid, capturing hyperlocal, real-time data on temperature, humidity, and pressure without new hardware.
At MWC Barcelona 2026, Skyfora earned a spot in the 4YFN Top 20 Climate Tech category, ran live demos at Hall 8.0B15.6, presented in the semifinals and participated in a Deloitte fireside chat.
