ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It’s become a beloved tradition at Manzano High School. Saturday morning, students and parents celebrated the 4th Annual Gold Game, remembering the legacy of a little girl who was lost too soon.
When Emily was four years old, she was diagnosed with cancer. She fought for over two years before she passed away. Now, Emily’s mother carries on her memory by raising donations by selling lemonade.

“The organization that I work with, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, funded a drug that we knew about. We considered that it would be a cure for Emily. Turns out, it probably is. There are kids with the same type of cancer that are living and thriving, have no evidence of disease after five to six years. That’s why we do what we do,” declared Emily’s mother, Myra Robinson.
The funds raised by Emily’s mother and by organizations like hers go to researching all types of children’s cancers.
